JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a Lean/Agile software and system sustainment team supporting critical national security applications. The ideal candidate excels in troubleshooting aging, complex, and asymmetrical IT systems, bringing clarity and resolution to ambiguous challenges.

Operating under a hybrid Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), you will define and execute work aligned with government product owners' strategic objectives while adhering to specific delivery commitments. This role is pivotal in managing escalated help-desk issues and leading rapid triage during service outages.

You will contribute to the sustainment team’s delivery roadmap, including Sprint Planning, Program Increment (PI) planning, and future patch/remedy forecasts. This position also provides an opportunity to implement emerging technologies, vendor patches, and upgrades, while ensuring compliance with government policies and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain complex, aging IT systems.

  • Document actions, progress, and outcomes in Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).

  • Lead triage and apply remedies during outages or service degradation.

  • Develop and maintain sprint plans and program increment planning.

  • Implement patches, updates, and upgrades.

  • Support continuous software/hardware improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with government data and security standards.

  • Develop test plans, perform debugging, and support production transition.

  • Plan and execute backup and recovery strategies.

  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and backend data support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Active Top Secret Clearance.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with legacy and complex systems.

  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficient in Java, MySQL, RedHat (RHEL 8/9), and Git.

  • Experience with Angular framework.

  • Security+ certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire); CISSP preferred.

Desired:

  • Experience with BDP (Big Data Platform).

  • Understanding of Lean/Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

  • Familiarity with Agile backlog and story authoring.

Back End: RedHat 8/9, Java 8 & 11, Maven, Spring Boot
Database: MySQL, PostgreSQL 9.6
Other: Elasticsearch 7.10, Hadoop File System
